Landscaping in Santa Barbara, CA

Santa Barbara yards run the gamut: narrow downtown lots with clay-heavy soil, Riviera hillsides that need retaining walls before anything can be planted, and Mesa properties that take the marine layer and the salt air straight off the ocean. We plan every project around what the site actually gives us — sun exposure, slope, and how the water moves after the first real rain.

The projects we get called for most here are flagstone and paver patios, sandstone seat walls, decomposed granite pathways, and drainage work on sloped lots where winter runoff has started cutting channels through the yard. Older homes on the Eastside and Westside often need irrigation replaced outright — we swap tired spray systems for drip and smart controllers, which usually drops the water bill noticeably.

With the county's water rules and our long dry season, we lean toward drought-tolerant, Mediterranean-friendly plantings: salvias, agaves, succulents, and native grasses that hold their color through August. If you want ongoing care afterward, the same crew comes back on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule, so nobody has to relearn your property.
