Lit Retaining Wall & Garden Bed

The property line needed screening, but a plain fence in the dark would have read as a blank wall from the house every evening.

We built a horizontal cedar slat fence and ran low-voltage uplights along the base, picking up the wood grain and the succulents planted in the river-stone bed in front. A mature tree with warm foliage was left to frame the composition.

At twilight the fence, the lighting, and the planting read as one designed scene rather than a barrier, and the front of the house gains a finished look the moment the lights come on.
